The most common normative studies include the Beliefs about Language Learning Inventory (BALLI) created by ^[44]Horwitz (1985). The BALLI uses five categories to classify student beliefs about language learning: foreign language aptitude, difficulty of language learning, nature of language learning, learning and communication strategies, and motivation and expectations (^[45]Horwitz, 1985 ).
